Focusrite asio driver latency fix drivers#
When I had Reaper play the audio through OBS the latency sounded the same as without Reaper and just the Focusrite Drivers, which means that the drivers seem to be the issue. There was still latency and in the top right corner of Reaper it said that latency was at 58 milliseconds even with the reduced buffering. I downloaded Reaper and I tested it with the Focusrite including the Focusrite drivers. Does everything have to be put through my Focusrite including all mics? Can I send my sound input and output all through the Focusrite and then have my speakers plugged into it too? Would direct monitoring even work if it doesn’t go through the headphone jack since the speakers must go through the back ports? I feel like this won’t solve the problem though because of the next test I did with Reaper. I also won’t be able to hear my computer audio with my USB Mic if my headphones are plugged into my Focusrite. I know people plug headphones directly into their Focusrite and have Direct Monitoring on, but have heard that Direct Monitoring can cause latency in recordings and streaming as well. This almost gets rid of the issue, but I know other people have near zero, sub 20 ms, latency and I want that as well since I use a looper externally.

When I uninstalled the Focusrite drivers and software I noticed that the latency was significantly better.
My USB mic (directly into my computer) on the other hand, had zero playback latency with OBS. Even if I reduced the buffering down to 18, there was still noticeable latency. I noticed that when I used the recent drivers from Focusrite website for Scarlett Solo 1st Gen there was bad latency doing this. I have my Focusrite input going into OBS and have it playback the audio through my computer’s speakers attached to my GPU (not focusrite headphone jack) to listen to it. I currently use a Focusrite Scarlett Solo 1st Gen to plug my guitar into and then have it go into my computer via USB. I have searched everywhere for an answer regarding this, even talked with Focusrite support and can’t find an answer. I am going to keep this as short and concise as possible.
